Sanremo guide

Sanremo Festival: how to experience it and where to stay

Every February the Italian Song Festival lights up Sanremo: a week of music, events, guests and a unique atmosphere that completely transforms the city. Even without a ticket for the Ariston Theatre, experiencing Sanremo during the Festival is special, with free concerts in the squares, pop-up events and a contagious energy until late at night.

When it takes place

The Festival is usually held in late February and lasts a week, with the evenings broadcast from the Ariston Theatre. Dates change each year: it's worth checking them in advance to plan your stay. It's the most intense and crowded period of the year in Sanremo, but also the liveliest.

Getting around and what to expect

During the Festival much of the centre becomes pedestrian and traffic increases: the advice is to walk and stay near the centre and the Ariston. Bars and restaurants stay open late, the squares host events and the whole city buzzes. Book tables and transfers in advance to avoid waits.

Book your stay well in advance

It's the most in-demand period of the year: apartments sell out months ahead and prices rise. If you want to experience the Festival up close, book as early as possible for the best choice, location and prices. An apartment near the Ariston lets you get home easily after the evening events. Write to us for availability and rates during the Festival period.
